Dill Pickles

My grandmother’s recipe. They are very crisp and garlicy.

Ingredients

  • Enough small cucumbers to fill a quart jar
  • 1 head of dill
  • ? t pickling spice
  • ? t alum
  • ? dried chili pepper
  • 1 T + pickling salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ? t cream of tartar

Directions

  1. Put 1 head of dill in jar
  2. Fill with cukes
  3. Add all other ingredients
  4. Fill jar with boiling H2O
  5. Seal
  6. Turn jar gently until salt dissolves
  7. Ready to eat on the third day
