Shredded Barbecue Beef

Barbecue-flavored beef on the stovetop.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. Chuck Roast
  • 1 lg. Onion
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 lg. Green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 c. ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. Chili powder
  • 3 drops Hot Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp. Garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. Allspice

Directions

  1. Place first five ingredients into large kettle with 1? quarts of water. Cover and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to simmer for 4 hours.
  3. Remove roast, save 1 1/2 cups of broth and veggies.
  4. Shred meat with a fork.
  5. Return broth, veggies and meat to kettle.
  6. Add remaining ingredients.
  7. Cook uncovered 1 hr.
  8. Add more water as needed. Serves 4-6.
